The Contented Pooch
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long will it take for my dog to learn?
Just like people, every dog is different in how they learn, but four sessions is enough to get a solid foundation and to see improvement. A lot will also depend on how much training is done with your pooch between sessions. The more practice you do with your pooch, the more your pooch will get out of our sessions together.
2. What if I want more or less than four sessions?
The first four sessions are very important. They provide an adequate amount of time to learn and practice the basic skills you will need to build a strong foundation for further training. After the first four sessions, we can reevaluate and schedule more training if needed.
3. What should I do if I have questions or problems while I am doing the training between sessions?
Please feel free to contact me throughout the week with any questions or concerns.
4. How can I get my dog to stop digging in the trash and yard, chewing on shoes or furniture?
Problem behaviors can stem from various sources, which we can discuss after some observation. The foundation for fixing any problem is having your dog focus on you, which we will address during one of our four training sessions.
5. Do I have to keep training my dog after our sessions are done?
Dogs need mental stimulation as much as they need physical exercise. Training exercises throughout their life are a great way to keep your pooch's mind sharp and keep the behaviors they've learned fresh! Plus they can be a great way to play with your pooch!
6. I have an adult dog. Is it too late to start training?
Definitely not! Dogs are never too old to learn new tricks! They are constantly investigating and in need of mental stimulation.
